Example 7.5.

Let $f:\mathcal{X}\rightarrow D$ be a degeneration of elliptic curves to an $I_{n}$ fibre. Then $B$ is the circle $\mathbb{R}/n\mathbb{Z}$ , decomposed by $\mathscr{P}$ into $n$ line segments of length one.
